"The US/Israel-Iran War Could Be God's Plan To Trigger Armageddon," MRFF

A watchdog group alleges that US troops have been told the war with Iran is 'God's plan' to trigger Armageddon.

This explosive claim comes from the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring religious freedom for members of the US military. The MRFF states it has received direct reports from service members detailing highly inappropriate religious proselytizing within their ranks.

According to the MRFF, a US military officer, whose identity has been withheld by the foundation out of concern for retribution from the Pentagon, reported a chilling message delivered by a commander. The officer revealed: “He urged us to tell our troops that this was ‘all part of God's divine plan’ and he specifically referenced numerous citations out of the Book of Revelation referring to Armageddon and the imminent return of Jesus Christ.”

This alleged directive represents a grave violation of the principle of separation of church and state within the military, designed to protect the diverse religious and non-religious beliefs of service members. The MRFF is a non-profit dedicated to ensuring religious freedom for members of the US military, and this type of proselytizing is precisely what they work to combat.

The report also places this rhetoric within the broader context of the current US administration's stance on Iran. President Trump has demonstrated a shifting public narrative regarding the war with Iran. On Saturday, in a brief telephone interview with The Washington Post newspaper, he stated his intention was to bring “freedom” to the Iranian people, a thinly veiled reference to regime change. This public positioning of the conflict, while secular in its language, contrasts sharply with the alleged internal religious messaging.

The unnamed officer further elaborated on the commander's message to the unit, stating that they were told President Trump “has been anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth.” This specific claim, if true, highlights a deeply troubling injection of Christian nationalism and end-times theology directly into military operational briefings.

Adding to the religious overtones surrounding the current offensive, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also made a significant reference. Just a day into the offensive, Prime Minister Netanyahu invoked a Torah command, comparing the Iranian regime to an ancient biblical foe – a comparison that has also been invoked in reference to Palestinians. He stated during a visit to a site struck by an Iranian missile: “We read in this week’s Torah portion, ‘Remember what Amalek did to you.’ We remember—and we act.”

The MRFF argues that injecting Christian nationalism into a multi racial and multi religious military is at stark odds with its long standing underpinnings. The US military prides itself on being a diverse institution where individuals of all faiths and backgrounds can serve without fear of religious coercion. The foundation contends that such rhetoric fundamentally undermines this principle.

MRFF founder Michael Weinstein indicated that this alleged overhaul of military religious neutrality has contributed to a dramatic spike in complaints received by the foundation following Trump’s decision to begin war with Iran. Weinstein described the volume of outreach to his office as “exploding,” adding, “Now that the ice has broken, we’re being flooded.” This suggests a significant number of service members are experiencing similar concerns and are seeking redress.

This report raises critical questions about command responsibility, religious freedom within the armed forces, and the influence of religious ideology on military policy and morale. The Pentagon has yet to issue a full response to these specific allegations.
