Rivers Assembly Urges Chief Judge To Begin Impeachment Probe Against Fubara And His Deputy

The Rivers State House of Assembly has formally requested the Chief Judge of the state to constitute a panel to investigate allegations of gross misconduct filed against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu. Following a unanimous vote during a plenary session, the legislators affirmed their commitment to proceeding with impeachment measures against the executive leadership.

Prior to the session, the assembly members accused the Governor of constitutional violations and attempting to blackmail or intimidate the parliament. Deputy Speaker Dumle Maol stated that the administration lacked the trust required to manage the crisis affecting the state, leaving the legislature with no alternative but to exercise its constitutional mandate for removal.

Speaker Martin Amaewhule subsequently confirmed the resolution of the House and officially called upon the judiciary to establish the investigative body.
