Only A Dozen Palestinians Exit Gaza through Rafah Border On First Day

Israel permitted only a dozen Palestinians to exit Gaza during the first day of the Rafah crossing’s reopening, a highly-restricted movement occurring amidst mounting casualties and severe operational-constraints.

Border-officials confirmed that the initial group crossing into Egypt on Monday comprised just five injured individuals and seven companions. This limited resumption of cross-border traffic constitutes a critical component of the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s truce-plan, a diplomatic-initiative aimed at mitigating the humanitarian-crisis following two years of devastating conflict.

Although operational-guidelines set a daily cap of 50 patients, each permitted two accompanying relatives, the actual throughput fell significantly short of this threshold. Medical-teams on the Egyptian side reported that arriving ambulances were subjected to screening-procedures to determine appropriate hospital-allocations for the wounded.

To accommodate the anticipated influx of medical-evacuees, Egyptian authorities have mobilized substantial resources, reportedly preparing 150 hospitals and 300 ambulances. The robust response-strategy also involves the allocation of 12,000 doctors and 30 rapid-deployment teams designated to manage the care of transferred patients.
