Soldiers Eliminate Multiple Terrorists, Apprehend 94 suspects
The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) have ramped up their operations nationwide, eliminating numerous terrorists, rescuing 67 individuals who were kidnapped, and apprehending 94 criminal suspects over the past two weeks.
On Friday in Abuja, Maj.-Gen. Olatokunbo Bello, the Director of Defence Media Operations, provided an update on military operations carried out from November 3 to 14.
Mr. Bello reported that troops seized a significant amount of weapons and ammunition, including automatic rifles, machine guns, RPG tubes, homemade firearms, and materials for making IEDs, as well as dismantling criminal camps and supply bases.
In the North East, he noted that the troops of Operation Hadin Kai maintained aggressive actions in Borno and Adamawa States, resulting in the deaths of several Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters.
He mentioned that troops also detained 45 informants, collaborators, and logistics providers linked to terrorists, and rescued one kidnapped individual.
According to Mr. Bello, forces from Operation Fansan Yamma in the North West eliminated numerous terrorists in Sokoto, Zamfara, Niger, Katsina, Kebbi, and Kano States during this timeframe.
He further stated that troops apprehended two suspects and freed 13 kidnapped victims, while also seizing weapons, vehicles, and livestock.
In the North Central region, Mr. Bello reported that the troops of Operation Enduring Peace responded to various attacks in Plateau and Kaduna States, killing extremists, arresting 16 individuals, and rescuing five victims of kidnapping.
He also noted the capture of a notorious criminal, Ibrahim Wakili, in the Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State on November 9.
“Troops from Operation Whirl Stroke achieved additional successes in Kogi, Kwara, Benue, Nasarawa, and Taraba States, killing several criminals, apprehending 10 suspects, and rescuing 48 kidnapped individuals.
“Additionally, two arms dealers and two extremist collaborators were apprehended in Nasarawa State,” he stated.
The defence spokesman also revealed that the troops of Operation Delta Safe thwarted oil theft valued at over N15.8 million in the Niger Delta region during this period.
He mentioned that several illegal refining sites were found and destroyed, and nine suspected oil thieves were arrested in Bayelsa and Delta States.
In the South East, Bello explained that the troops of Operation Udo Ka maintained pressure on criminal elements, killing one terrorist and arresting seven others during operations in Imo, Enugu, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River States.
He praised the troops for their dedication and urged the media to continue spreading accurate and verified information in support of national security initiatives.
