Army Council Promotes 105 Senior Officers
The Army Council has given the green light for the promotion of 105 senior officers in the Nigerian Army to the ranks of Major General and Brigadier General. This advancement includes 28 Brigadier Generals elevated to Major General and 77 Colonels promoted to the rank of Brigadier General.
Among those promoted to Major General are O Adegbe from the Defence Intelligence Agency, SM Uba from Defence Information, RE Hedima from Military Intelligence, and RT Utsaha from Defence Operations. The list also comprises AM Umar from the Warrant Officer Academy, S Sulaiman from the Military Secretary Office, IO Bassey from the Army Operations Centre, and CA Ekeator from the School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering.

Other senior officials who have been promoted to Major General include SY Yakasai from the Office of the Chief of Army Staff, WL Nzidee from the Department of Army Logistics, SA Emmanuel from Nigerian Army Signals, SS Tilawan from Sector 3 Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, MO Agi from the Nigerian Defence Academy, and IM Abbas from 34 Brigade. Additionally, ZA Saidu was posthumously promoted.
Promotions from Colonel to Brigadier General were granted to Y Ibrahim from the Nigerian Army Resource Centre, NN Gambo from the Department of Civil Military Affairs, and A Saidu from the Finance Corps. The list extends to A Ali from the Army Headquarters Garrison, I Waziri from the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff, MM Sani from the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, AA Alkali from the Dog Centre, AO Ndah from the Department of Army Training, and IB Sheriff from Headquarters 9 Brigade.

Additional recipients of the promotion to Brigadier General include KR Apata from the Provost Group, MK Akpuogwu from Joint Task Force Operation Whirl Stroke, PU Nnaji from the Operations Monitoring Support Team, MT Nagudu from the Armour School, and KO Bukoye from 401 Special Forces Brigade. The medical and support corps were also acknowledged with promotions for O Adole, JA Ikagba, DC Ibeh, GS Chohwore, and OG Okoye, along with YK Audu from Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI.
Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, congratulated the officers and their families. He urged the newly promoted commanders to demonstrate their worth through exemplary leadership and professional behavior. He instructed them to devise bold and innovative strategies to tackle the changing security challenges facing the nation. General Shaibu highlighted the necessity for the officers to uphold their oath of allegiance to protect Nigeria's territorial integrity, emphasizing that their loyalty to the Constitution must be absolute and unwavering.
