Rivers Assembly Urges Chief Judge To Begin Impeachment Probe Against Fubara And His Deputy

 The Rivers State House of Assembly has formally requested the Chief Judge of the state to constitute a panel to investigate allegations of gross misconduct filed against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu. Following a unanimous vote during a plenary session, the legislators affirmed their commitment to proceeding with impeachment measures against the executive leadership. Prior to the session, the assembly members accused the Governor of constitutional violations and attempting to blackmail or intimidate the parliament. Deputy Speaker Dumle Maol stated that the administration lacked the trust required to manage the crisis affecting the state, leaving the legislature with no alternative but to exercise its constitutional mandate for removal. Kebbi State Police Command Arrests Man For Murder Of His Spouse

 The Kebbi State Police Command has taken into custody Suleman Mamuda for the suspected murder of his spouse, Umaima Maidawa, in Bayawa Village, located in the Augie Local Government Area. The 30-year-old suspect fled the area after the incident occurred on Monday morning but was later captured through community intelligence and police tracking efforts. Commissioner of Police Umar Mohammed Hadejia has instructed that the case be sent to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation and prosecution. In light of this situation, officials have encouraged the public to report any criminal activities swiftly and to assist law enforcement in their efforts to ensure peace across the state.
