US Drops 5000 pounds Bomb On Iranian Military Facilities Near The Strait Of Hormuz

U.S. forces used multiple 5,000-pound bombs to strike Iranian missile facilities near the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, Pentagon officials said late Tuesday.

The operation, carried out under the authority of U.S. Central Command, was swift and decisive. According to an official statement released by CENTCOM via social media, the mission was designed to neutralize threats to one of the world’s most critical maritime corridors.

“Hours ago, U.S. forces successfully employed multiple 5,000-pound deep penetrator munitions on hardened Iranian missile sites along Iran’s coastline near the Strait of Hormuz,” the command stated. “The Iranian anti-ship cruise missiles in these sites posed a risk to international shipping in the strait.”

U.S. Central Command offered little detail on the operation other than saying it targeted Iran’s anti-ship cruise missiles, which the Iranian military has used to target commercial ships passing through the strait.

Analysts suggest that the use of 5,000-pound "bunker buster" style munitions signals that these facilities were heavily fortified—likely constructed to withstand standard aerial bombardment. By targeting these specific sites, the U.S. is signaling a shift toward a more aggressive posture to ensure the flow of global commerce remains uninterrupted in the region.

At this hour, the Pentagon has not disclosed whether there were any casualties or if retaliatory measures from Tehran are expected. Global markets are watching this development closely, as the Strait of Hormuz serves as the primary artery for a significant portion of the world’s oil supply.
